Methods, tools, and analysis for low carbon energy transitions

Abstract: Abstract: In this talk, I will provide an overview of my research, including the methods and open-source tools that my collaborators and I use and develop to explore technical, economic, and policy questions about low carbon energy transitions. I will also share results from a few recently completed and ongoing research projects that span the electricity and transportation sectors as well as electricity access and reliability in developing economies. Short Bio Ranjit is an Assistant Professor in the Environmental Studies program and the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at the University of California Santa Barbara. He is also a faculty scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. At UCSB, he leads the Clean Energy Transformation Lab (add link: https://es.cetlab.ucsb.edu) and is a Research Associate at emLab.  Ranjit’s research lies at the intersection of energy, environment, and economics, specifically in low-carbon energy systems, clean energy access, and electricity markets. His interests include strategies, policies, and market mechanisms for environmentally sustainable and socially equitable low carbon transitions in the electricity and transportation sectors. He also studies technologies and incentives for increasing access to clean energy services in developing regions and low-income communities.  Before joining UCSB, Ranjit was an ITRI-Rosenfeld postdoctoral fellow at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He holds a PhD in Energy and Resources from the University of California at Berkeley, master’s degrees in Engineering from Humboldt State University and University of Texas at Austin, and a bachelor’s degree from the Government College of Engineering Pune, India.
