UCSB gets ready for 'The Shell Eco-Marathon'

A UCSB group of five senior Mechanical Engineering students (Erik Stassinos, Aleksandar Stanisic, Michael Scamardo, Quentin Orciuc and Josh Jimenez) are diligently working on a high mileage vehicle as part of their senior graduation project. Their goal is to double the mileage of five hundred miles per gallon achieved by the UCSB team who participated in last year's Shell Eco Marathon Americas event. To this purpose, they have revamped part of the design of the vehicle used last year and focused on making the engine a lot more fuel-efficient.

Large-Scale Camera Network Part of New Study at UCSB

Thanks to a federal grant, Manjunath's vision of a comprehensive camera network on the UCSB campus is about to become a reality.

Engineers Without Borders - UCSB Chapter Receives Two Awards

Engineers Without Borders at UCSB continues to be recognized as one of the outstanding chapters in the United States. Seven of our students went to the EWB-USA International Conference in Seattle over spring break, and while there received two awards!

The first award was for "Outstanding Educational Work in Araypallpa, Peru" and was accompanied with a $1,000 award.

The Chapter also won 1st Place in the poster competition for a poster describing the Peru Project's work in Araypallpa over the last five years.
