UCSB ME Alumni at the ECC

The UCSB Mechanical Engineering Department was extremely well-represented at the 15th European Control Conference (ECC), delivering three semiplenary lectures. Dr. Hana El-Samad (PhD '04), Grace Boyer Junior Endowed Chair in Biophysics, at the University of California, San Francisco, and the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences, delivered a lecture entitled "Trade-Offs in Adapting Biological Systems". 

Dr. Mihailo Jovanovic (PhD '04), Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, delivered a lecture entitled "Controller architectures: Trade-Offs Between Performance and Complexity".

Dr. Niklas Karlsson (PhD '02), Vice President of R&D at AOL Platforms, delivered a lecture entitled "Control Problems in Online Advertising and Benefits of Randomized Bidding Strategies". 

This event is a remarkable testament to the high quality and impactfulness of our PhD program!
