Look out Wright Brothers, UCSB has a team of challengers for you!

A team of researchers at UCSB is leading the way in developing Hyperloop technology, which could revolutionize the way we travel. These super-fast, super-efficient retro-futurist tube-travel makes leaves the bullet train in the dust and could make California's bad traffic and heady smog a thing of the past. UCSB has joined university groups from all over the world, competing for fame and fortune, to develop the best Hyperloop design to face-off on the SpaceX track in Hawthorne, California.

The 30-student interdisciplinary UCSB team, advised by faculty and graduate students and facilitated byTyler Susko, has made it to the top of the pack. Over 1,200 teams entered the race, and only 30 remain. Guided by the mantra, "Affordable, realistic, and robust," our Gauchos have created a 14-foot, 500-pound pod that is much lighter, simpler, and cheaper than the pack.
