Ecorithm, a Santa Barbara-based data analytics company that uses technology originally developed by Prof. Igor Mezic, has recently received Central Coast Innovation's Most Disruptive Technology Award for its work developing Smart Buildings. Ecorithm was founded in 2011 as an Internet of Things software analysis program, which connects physical objects - in this case office builidings - to the internet. Among many other perks, Ecorithm can identify certain pressure points contributing to energy waste and presents that data to business owners, who are then accountable for addressing optimal system schedules, room temperatures, and airflow speed, to name a few.
