Mechanical Engineering Professor G. Robert Odette has been named as a recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Scientist/Engineer Award given by the Structural Materials Division of The Minerals, Metals, & Materials Society (TMS). The award and Prof. Odette's biography will be highlighted in an upcoming issue of JOM, the principle TMS journal.
Next Wednesday, October 2nd, the ME department will be holding it's
annual New Graduate Student Convocation and Poster Session. This year, the event
will be held in the ME classroom (EII, 2243). The event will begin at
Mechanical Engineering Professor Eckart Meiburg has been
elected as a Fellow of ASME.
Professor Meiburg was conferred this honor “for outstanding
leadership and contributions in the area of fluid mechanics, in particular in
the areas of vortex dynamics, wake flows, multiphase flows, turbidity currents
and the physics of a variety of hydrodynamic instabilities.”
The ASME Board of Governors confers the Fellow grade of
membership on worthy candidates to recognize their outstanding engineering
