The Hellman Family Faculty Fellowship program was established in 1995 by Warren and Patricia Hellman. The purpose of the Hellman Fellows program is to provide substantial support for the research of promising assistant professors who show capacity for great distinction in their research. It is designed to particularly target faculty near the middle of their pre-tenure period in developing a strong research record in preparation for tenure review.

UCSB Mechanical Engineering Graduate Student Lily Li has been selected as one of the recipients of ASME's 2014-15 Graduate Teaching Fellowship. ASME's Graduate Teaching Fellowship Program is a collaboration between ASME and mechanical engineering departments across the country, with the intent to encourage outstanding doctoral candidates in mechanical engineering education, particularly women and minorities. The $5,000 per year fellowships are supported by the ASME Foundation, and selected annually by the ASME Board of Education.
